(ITALIANO – ESPANOL) The media response brought on by the murder of Carol Maltesi, 26 years old, – ex- hard actress known as Charlotte Angie – killed and torn apart by Davide Fontana has been considerable. BsNews.it and its director Andrea Tortelli – as our readers, and beyond, know – were decisive in identify the name of the victim and in entrap the killer. Many media (from Brescia, Italy, and Europe) talked about us, so much so that for a few days we struggled to work to respond to requests for interviews and compliment messages (we apologize with our readers).
For a small independent journal, that faces daily great efforts, it is a huge satisfaction seeing our work recognized by competitors and colleagues. We sincerely thank them for the fairness showed. Sadly, it remains a deep sorrow for the lost of a young life and for those who loved her. To a small extent, console us to know that we have done something useful and concrete to give a name to the body and to avoid other tragedies.
MEDIA THAT TALKED ABOUT US
Several medias talked about the work done by BsNews.it. Various British newspapers published the news, starting from The Telegraph, that has rebuilt with us all the steps of our investigation (and more: The Times called us and Daily and The Week have written articles about us). Even the New York Post, El Mundo, ABC, and other countries’ press (Spain, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Norway, Greece, Iceland etc) reported news regarding BsNews.it and Andrea Tortelli. We spent many time with the national German TV RTL (Udo Gumpel), having a long interview and going to Borno, the place of discovery: an emotional and educational experience in the professional field.
All the main Italian newspapers (Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, La Stampa etc),again, published the news of our investigation citing us and the same did – with exemplar fairness – the Brescia media, some even interviewing us (Bresciaoggi and Teletutto in the TV show “Messi a fuoco” by Andrea Cittadini). Several other journals did the same, especially websites, including Fanpage, Bergamonews and Varesenews.
Furthermore, also the attention of the national televisions was enormous. In addition to the news (TGR, RaiNews, Tg2 even in the 8 p.m edition) they broadcasted reports about our work with interviews with the director – or they asked us to connect live – various Rai shows (Ore 14, La vita in diretta, Storie italiane, I fatti vostri: is possible to rewatch those on RaiPlay), Mediaset (Quarto grado, Pomeriggio cinque), and other independent group (TeleLombardia). Moreover, some Italian universities (starting from Cagliari and Cattolica of Brescia) called us to report the students how our journalistic investigation was born.
WHY THEY TALKED ABOUT US
Thanks to our investigation, the 27th of march has been possible identify the corpse and provide the authorities key elements to detect the murder, framing him when he went to the police to denounce the disappearance of the woman, contradicting himself. All through a “simple” journalistic work, without privileged sources: simply verifying the report of a reader using tools that anyone has at their disposal (mobile, email, a computer connected to the internet, Whatsapp etc).
